Agent Skills
AvailableThree skills that let your AI agent write and check e-invoices and rebuild your existing invoice layout – ZUGFeRD and XRechnung via invoice-api.xhub. Written for Claude, also installable in Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and other agents. You describe the invoice in the chat; the skill does the maths, calls the API and saves the file.

Install with one command
1npx skills add xhubio/invoice-api.xhub-skillsThree skills, three jobs
Each skill ships its own scripts. Claude picks the right one from your request; you can also name a skill directly.
invoice-createCreate an invoice
Collects the invoice data from the conversation, computes line amounts, VAT and totals, generates ZUGFeRD or XRechnung with validation, reads the result back and saves the file, JSON and validation report.
Example prompt
“Create an invoice to Beispiel Handel GmbH for 12 hours of development at €95 net, service period October.”
invoice-readRead and check an invoice
Reads an e-invoice as PDF or XML, extracts number, parties, lines and totals, and reports validation errors and warnings.
Example prompt
“Is this XRechnung valid? What does it contain?”
invoice-template-from-pdfYour layout as a template
Rebuilds your existing invoice PDF as an invoice-api template: measures the original, builds the template, renders it through the API and compares both side by side until they match – including page breaks and missing optional fields.
Example prompt
“Turn our current invoice (invoice.pdf) into an invoice-api template.”
Installation
skills CLI
Installs all three skills. Pick the agent with -a, e.g. -a cursor or -a codex; add --skill invoice-create to install a single one.
1npx skills add xhubio/invoice-api.xhub-skillsClaude Code (plugin)
Via the plugin marketplace in Claude Code. Alternatively, copy the folders from skills/ into ~/.claude/skills/ (all projects) or .claude/skills/ (one project).
1/plugin marketplace add xhubio/invoice-api.xhub-skills2/plugin install invoice-api@xhubioClaude Desktop / claude.ai
- 1Zip a skill folder, e.g. skills/invoice-create into invoice-create.zip.
- 2Upload the zip file in the Skills section of the Claude settings.
- 3Code execution must be allowed to reach service.invoice-api.xhub.io. If your organisation restricts network access, allow this host.
The skills are written for Claude Code and Claude Desktop. For the other agents we checked the installation via the skills CLI on 24 October 2026, not yet the execution. Every agent needs permission to run Python scripts.
Setup
An invoice-api.xhub API key
As the environment variable INVOICE_XHUB_API_KEY or in a .env file in the working directory. The free plan includes a key.
Python 3.8 or later
invoice-create and invoice-read only use the standard library. invoice-template-from-pdf also needs pdfplumber and pillow (pip install pdfplumber pillow).
Every call counts
The skills call the API like any other integration, so every call counts against your plan's quota. An invoice with validation counts as at least two units. The layout rebuild renders several times to compare, and each render is a call – the 20 calls of the free plan will not get you far there.
The key is never printed
The scripts never display the key and never write it into a generated file. Keep the .env out of your repository.
1# .env in your working directory (do not commit)2INVOICE_XHUB_API_KEY=sk_live_...3 4# optional: a saved PDF template5INVOICE_XHUB_TEMPLATE_ID=<uuid>Optional: an invoice-seller.json in the working directory with your company data (name, address, VAT ID, bank account). invoice-create then uses it as the seller without asking.
Your first e-invoice from the chat
Create an account, put the API key into .env, install the skills – after that, your first invoice starts with one sentence in the chat.
